Former Band Director Gil Madrigale Honored with Hall of Fame Induction

We would like to send along our congratulations to Gil Madrigale who was inducted into the Massachusetts Drum Corps and Music Educators Hall of Fame last evening!

Mr. Madrigale (or “Mr. Mad” as he was affectionately known as to his students) directed the Dartmouth High School band for over 30 years, and led the group to countless honors over that time.

Under Gil Madrigale, the Dartmouth High School band appeared in marching competitions all over the country, winning many of them, including multiple wins in the NESBA, USSBA (now US Bands), MICCA, and EMBA circuits. The band also performed in the Rose Bowl Parade in 1996, as well as with the Boston Pops in a televised event.

Congratulations Mr. Madrigale for a well-deserved honor!

Congratulations to our Indoor Percussion – WGI Finals

A hearty round of congratulations goes out to our Indoor Percussion team for taking home the coveted Fan Favorite Award at WGI Finals in Dayton, OH yesterday along with 5th place in the Scholastic World category!

The group started out in 4th place after prelims with their show “Emotional Rollercoaster”, and dropped to 5th against some very tough, and very good competition from a number of other schools from around the country. Dartmouth ended up scoring a 94.600 in the final round to take home 5th place overall.

Our kids worked hard all season long, and for that we salute them! We also would like to recognize the hard work of all the indoor staff, helpers, and parent volunteers who made sure the group and all props got on the floor successfully at shows throughout New England and at Finals in Ohio.

Great job, everyone!

Welcome to our rebuilt website!

As you can see, the DSMA website has undergone an extensive transformation!

This new version of the website can be easily viewed on mobile phones, and should allow parents and students to find information much faster and easier. Our Calendar pages have been re-vamped and should be very helpful when trying to find rehearsal or performance times and locations.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be continuing to re-add some older content and photos, and we also have a new Alumni page to help former Dartmouth music students stay connected with the program.

We also encourage everyone to “like” our page on Facebook, which is where we post live info on schedule changes, competition scores, and photos from events our programs are participating in.
